Starrsed TL ESR analyser

Manufactured by the Dutch RR Mechatronics, the Starrsed TL ESR analyser automatically determines the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) directly from an EDTA tube using the Westergren method.

Starrsed TL is designed to be connected to the automation tracks of several manufacturers (Siemens, Abbott, etc.) following the point-of-space principle. Because of its smart design, the freely standing analyser takes up very little floor area, which makes it easy to install even in the smallest spaces. Starrsed TL picks up tubes from the track using its integrated arm and only mixes and aspires samples through the cap inside the analyser, which significantly reduces track contamination and incidents. EDTA tubes used in the ESR analysis can directly be used in other parts of the track – in haematology analysers, for example.

Tubes are fed continuously and automatically into the Starrsed TL analyser from the track, and it can also be operated manually during track maintenance. As the analyser operates seamlessly as part of automation, the operator only needs to replace reagent vessels, react to flags and clean the system regularly, which has been made very easy. Up to 84 samples can be analysed at the same time and, as a result of the 30-minute version of the Westergren method, roughly 135 results can be completed in an hour, which is more than enough to respond to hospital laboratories’ peak hours.
